Deborah Halpern
Deborah Halperin is a multi-dimensional artist, a sculptor, a painter, a potter and a printmaker. Her work can be exuberant and whimsical, and is imbued with deep artistry. Over her 30 year career she has produced an extraordinary body of work.
She began her training in ceramic work in 1976. She studied painting at the Caulfield Institute of Technology in 1979, and started exhibiting as a ceramicist in 1981. Since then she has had ten major sculpture commissions for public spaces, as well as numerous private commissions. Through her numerous public sculptures, she has become well-known and respected within the community.
Her work is held in collections, including the Australian National Gallery, Canberra, the State Galleries of Queensland, Victoria and Western Australia and in a number of regional and university collections.
