Christabel Blackman

Born in Melbourne in 1959, Christabel is the daughter of the well known artist Charles Blackman O.B.E. She spent an international childhood shuffled around England Europe and Australia. From 1986 to 2012 she lived in Valencia, Spain, where she was a well established artist as well as an art restorer of note.Since returning to live in Sydney, she has filled her inviting canvasses with familiarity, longing and a rich use of saturated, pure and appealing colour.
She attained a Diploma in Restoration of Easel Painting from Istituto per l'Arte e il Restauro in Florence, Italy and later on a Masters Degree in Conservation of Easel
Paintings from the Politeenical University of Valencia.
She started painting from an early age and has attended many courses in painting, printmaking and photography. Her father taught her a lot about painting techniques, and about the importance of the image and its unique language. She has held several solo exhibitions and participated in many group exhibitions. She has won several art prizes and her paintings hang in collections throughout Australia and Europe.
