Suzanna Lang
Suzanna Lang was born in Sydney and was fortunate to spend many of her formative years watching Brett Whiteley paint in his studio. Suzanna received a scholarship to study ceramics at Tafe. She has also studied Graphic Design and has undertaken a variety of creative workshops in mediums such as calligraphy, pottery and glazing.
Her earlier works show still lifes abstracted. In her more recent work she has painted abstract landscapes which often incorporate shapes alluding to still lifes. Of her work she says " My paintings explore contrasts - between the past and present, the complex and the simple, the disposable world and the traditional world "
She has held many successful exhibitions in Australia and her work is held in collections in Australia, the USA and the UK. Amongst her most recent awards, she was a finalist in the Paddington Art Prize in 2007 and won the Packer's Award in the Wahroonga Art Show in the same year.
