Sonya Rothwell

Sonya Rothwell has sketched, painted and created all her life. She completed her formal arts education in London, England at Central Saint Martins College of Art. Sonya worked in London and Sydney as a designer and art director for several years. Her design background lends graphic shapes to her work which she combines with painterly brush strokes, layered figures, close crops, contrast and luminous colour. Sonya paints from life; people, figures, faces and form dominating her work.

Her latest series called the Amour and More Series are semi-abstract mixed media drawings on paper of layered

figures entwined. The works are of real couples and explore the intimacy, tenderness and passion between two people in love.
