Sallie Portnoy
Sallie Portnoy is a well known glass artist and teacher. Her specialty is cast glass sculpture, both kiln fired and hot cast from the furnace. She also works in clay, bronze, cement and polystyrene. In 1989 she completed a Bachelor of Fine Arts/Ceramics at the City Art Institute, Sydney. ‘ Inspiration is a mystery to me. What I create surprises and excites me. My creative output filters through my fascination with human nature, the physical form, psychology, mysticism and the enigmas of ritual ‘ She has attended casting/fusing workshops in Winnipeg, Canada and Brooklyn, New York, USA. She has exhibited throughout Australia, and at SOFA, Chicago, USA. She is in private and public collections in Australia and the USA.
