Paula Des Jardins

Paula Des Jardins, born in Philadelphia, received her BFA cum laude from Rosemount College and furthered her figurative studies at the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts. Her subsequent move to Asia offered both a new perspective and palate as she continued her passion for painting.

She begins each painting with an intangible concept. It is a push/pull process working light against dark, texture against texture, thick against thin paint. Her kimono works are structured by using pen and ink and handmade papers.

Paula is now a well established artist, currently working in Southern California. Her work is well renowned for its brilliant use of colour, textures, powerful brushstrokes and glorious light.

Her works are included in many private collections. Her corporate collections include ABN Amro, IBM, Xerox and the Prudential Insurance Company. She has held successful selected exhibitions in Tokyo, London, Hong Kong, Vancouver and in the U.S.A. in Michigan, Philadelphia and Los Angeles. Critics agree that her work is 'modern art that will endure'.
