Barbara Licha
Barbara Licha was born in Poland and emigrated to Australia in the 1980's. She is well known for her figurative work in drawings and paintings. In 2000 she was a finalist in the Archibald Prize and has been a finalist in the Portia Geach Memorial Award six times. Grants she has been given include the Australian Council, Pat Corrigan Artists Grant in 1998 and the Australian Coucil, Marketing Grant Scheme in 2010. She has held many successful solo exhibitions throughout Australia and in Poland and has been regularly selected for major art prizes. She is represented in public and private collections in Australia and Poland, including the National Gallery of Australia, Canberra.
The past few years she has been concentrating on galvanised wire sculptures which explore the physical and emotional space of our contemporary urban environement
