Alison Coulthurst
Alison was born in Bulawayo, Zimbabwe and studied Arts and Graphic Design in South Africa. After living in London for a few years working with high end advertising agencies, she moved to Sydney, Australia. In 2001 she became a professional artist and has since exhibited in Australia, New Zealand, Dubai, Singapore, London, Milan and Rome and is her paintings are held in private collections in these countries.
Alison is a figurative and contemporary artist with a distinctive style. She produces colourful and pensive works, using mixed media, acrylics, oils, shellacs and bitumen with numerous layers to create and enhance the textures and depth. Many of the figures in her work are inspired by her time in Africa.
Parnell Gallery, Auckland, New Zealand, Manyung Gallery, Melbourne and Soho Gallery, Sydney are a few of the galleries wher she has held solo exhibitions. She has also exhibited in group shows at Art Sydney, Art Milan, Art Melbourne, Art Singapore and Art London.
